Über das Stück
“Something exists in the world that can only be found in one place – huge treasure. And the place where the treasure can be found is where you stand.” — Martin Buber
In a transcontinental co-production between the Junges Schaupiel and the theatre groups Cia Paideia de Teatro São Paulo and Company MA Tokyo, a collaboration between Japanese, Brazilian and German theatremakers will take place. The play is based on a story by the philosopher Martin Buber. One night, a scholar dreams that he should go to a distant city: there, under a bridge that leads to the castle, he will find treasure. When he has the dream for the third time, he sets off. But guards patrol the bridge. Their captain asks: “Why do you come here every day?” The wanderer tells him about his dream. The captain laughs and replies: “What would happen if we dared trust our dreams? I’ve been dreaming for weeks of a poor scholar in a distant city. Apparently, I should go and dig under the stove in his room to find treasure.” The scholar smiles, bows and walks back to his city.
