Theatre Education

Exchange, Participation and Cultural Education! — As Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus’s education staff we invite you to experience, try out, discuss and challenge theatre – together with other people. Theatre can and should engage with many themes present in our lives in very different ways: emotionally, challengingly, empathetically and open to interpretation. This is why we offer a comprehensive programme of education provision suited to your needs for all our productions, to make even »difficult topics« accessible for as many people as possible. We also offer teachers, school social workers and the staff of youth centres advice on choosing plays and workshops to match your needs and wishes.

Formats

Theater.Fieber (»Theatre Fever«)
Nurseries and schools visit the theatre at least once a year with all the children and schoolchildren. Anyone unable to pay to visit the theatre, will be given free entry. More than 90 are already part of Theater.Fieber.
Kreativ.Klassen (»Creative Classes«)
Kreativ.Klassen accompany how a production is created and produce an exhibition that is presented in the theatre to accompany the premiere.
Einblicke (»Insights«)
Teachers, educators and influencers can receive free tickets to attend productions in advance.
Workshops
Workshops offer the chance to prepare for a visit to the theatre through acting or to process and amplify the impressions a production has made.
Theatre Tours
Theatre tours offer the classic »view behind the scenes« and enable visitors to appreciate what has to happen for a performance to take place.
Audience Discussions
Audience discussions provide a space to exchange views on request. Here is a chance to talk about and discuss what has been experienced together.
Introductions
Introductions communicate a foretaste of the theatre visit and a perspective on the special features of each production.

New from this season

Lass die Leute reden… (»Let the People Speak…«)
At selected performances we offer everyone interested the chance to exchange their views about their visit to the theatre. We invite you and the ensemble to chat in a congenial atmosphere over a drink. Dates will be announced in the leaflet and on the website.
Das Zielgruppen-Barometer (»The Target Group Barometer«)
For all the Junges Schauspiel’s productions, we are interested from day one of rehearsals about the opinions of specific audience age groups. We document their feedback, experiences and recommendations in our target group barometer. The results will be published after the premiere on the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus website.
Kinder-Prüfer:innen (»Child Examiners«)
At the Junges Schauspiel children are empowered and invited to offer expert opinions on productions: for what ages is the play appropriate? What meaning can it have for a certain age group? These and other criteria are developed by the children together with theatre makers from the Junges Schauspiel, the Junge Oper am Rhein and the junges tanzhaus.
Theater.herzen (»Theatre Hearts«)
The »Herzensdienste – Gesche Hugger & Marion GlagauStiftung« enables children and young people affected by poverty to visit theatre performances and the workshops associated with them.
